One of the most respected Spanish Private Equity professionals with over 25 years’ experience, most of those as top executive of Mercapital, Spanish leader during more than two decades.
Mercapital was a Spanish leading company in Private Equity, the only present in the main Latin American markets. Investing in 115 companies (62 platforms and 53 add-ons) along a 27-year professional trajectory and playing a key active role in their growth and development. During his career, it has also held the presidency of the European employer’s association EVCA (European Venture Capital Association), as well as ASCRI’s (acronym which stands for the Spanish association of Risk Capital entities).
Between 2010 and 2013, Javier moved to São Paulo, where he led the expansion of Mercapital in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia; afterwards, he was involved in Leighton restructuring (Sidney, Australia), a construction group owned by ACS, the largest global infrastructures and concessions group.
Javier is a Civil Engineer by UPM University (Madrid, Spain) and holds an Insead MBA.
