Entrepreneur pioneer in Private Equity in Spain, José María Loizaga has a long career of over 60 years, and is considered one of the most successful executives throughout Spain’s history. José María Loizaga led various banking mergers and has been in charge of industrial enterprises such as Otis Elevator Group for southern Europe. Between 1980 and 1985, he set up Banco Hispano Industrial, apart from merging and restructuring the two major Spanish industrial Banks: Banco Unión and Banco Urquijo, becoming CEO of the resulting entity of the merger. In 1985, he founded Mercapital, Spanish leading Company in Private Equity during more than two decades, holding its Presidency until 2008. He has been member of the Advisory Board of numerous companies such as Banque Privée Edmond of Rothschild, Unión Fenosa or Banque Indosuez Spain. At present, he is Vice-president of Zardoya Otis and ACS Group, the largest infrastructure group worldwide, among others.
